Walt Disney World’s Genie+ Reaches Capacity for the First Time and Hits Peak Price

March 15, 2023 by WDW For All Staff Leave a Comment

What:

  • Genie+, the attraction-access feature of the Disney Genie service, has reached its highest price point this week, costing $29 per person per day.
  • Genie+ provides guests access to Lightning Lane, the former FastPass line, at select attractions.
  • Some popular attractions are not included in Genie+ and require the purchase of an Individual Attraction pass at varying prices to gain access to the Lightning Lane.

When:

  • This week, Genie+ reached its highest price point.
  • Sales of Genie+ were suspended at around 3 pm today due to reaching capacity.
  • Genie+ sales reached capacity for the first time at Walt Disney World over Presidents’ Day weekend in February 2023.
  • In May 2022, Disney updated the Genie+ service to allow for the suspension of sales and stopped advance sales.

Who is impacted:

  • Guests visiting Walt Disney World who wish to use the Genie+ feature to access attractions with shorter wait times.
  • Those who want to enjoy popular attractions not included in Genie+ and have to purchase an Individual Attraction pass to access Lightning Lane.

Why it should matter to someone traveling to Walt Disney World:

  • Knowing the current price point and capacity issues of Genie+ can help guests budget and plan their trip accordingly.
  • Understanding the need for Individual Attraction passes for some popular rides can help guests avoid disappointment and frustration during their visit.
  • Being aware of the updates to the Genie+ service can help guests make the most of their time at Walt Disney World and enjoy a better overall experience.

Disney World Yacht Club Continues Refurbishment

Disney World Yacht Club Lighthouse

Disney World is constantly experiencing renovations throughout the resort area and has been ongoing at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. Having over 36,000 hotel rooms, one can see how renovations can seem like they are always happening. The resort has undergone some upgrades throughout the past year, including room renovations and upkeep on the exterior.

Now it is the Yacht Clubs’ most prestigious landmarks turn, the Lighthouse. Currently, there is scaffolding around the Lighthouse as they appear to make some repairs and give it a nice new coat of paint. We are hoping for some fun upgrades to the Lighthouse!

Check out the picture below to see the work starting and let us know what is one of your favorite landmarks around Walt Disney World.

Disney’s Beaches and Cream Kitchen Sink Recipe

July 6, 2017 by Robert Morgan Leave a Comment

Disney’s Beaches and Cream restaurant delivers one of the largest desserts at Disney World with the Kitchen Sink; a topping stuffed multiple scoop ice cream sundae. If you have ordered this dessert before or plan on ordering on your next Disney World visit, then you will need a few (or many) friends and family members to help eat all of it. When the sundae is delivered to the table to the restaurant makes a big spectacle. Make your own at home with Disney’s official recipe below:

  • ½ cup fudge topping, warmed
  • ½ cup butterscotch topping, warmed
  • ½ cup peanut butter topping, warmed
  • 1 medium banana, sliced in 1/2 –inch slices
  • 1 cinnamon spice cupcake (2 ½ x 1 ¼-inch), quartered
  • 1 angel food cupcake (3 x 1 ½-inch), quartered
  • 2 4-oz. scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 2 4-oz. scoops chocolate ice cream
  • 2 4-oz. scoops strawberry ice cream
  • 1 4-oz. scoop mint chocolate chip ice cream
  • 1 4-oz. scoop coffee ice cream
  • 3 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • ¼ cup marshmallow crème
  • ¼ cup strawberry topping
  • ¼ cup pineapple topping
  • 1 14-oz can dairy whipped topping
  • 1 brownie (6-inch x 6-inch), quartered
  • 1 regular-sized (2oz) candy bar, quartered
  • 4 chocolate cookies with cream filling
  • 1 tablespoon sliced toasted almonds
  • 1 tablespoon dark and white chocolate shavings
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate cookies with cream filling, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon chopped jellied orange slices (approximately 2 large slices)
  • 1 tablespoon milk chocolate chip morsels
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter chip morsels
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate sprinkles
  • 1 tablespoon rainbow sprinkles
  • ½ cup drained maraschino cherries

Disney also just announced a Fourth of July version of their popular dessert:

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is a fun restaurant that Disney describes as, “Revel in the nostalgia of the Atlantic seashore at this boardwalk-style ice cream shop.”

Famous YouTube Impressionist Goes to Chef Mickey’s

July 6, 2017 by Robert Morgan Leave a Comment

Brian Hull, a popular YouTuber impressionist, recently visited Chef Mickey’s and had a fun time using his skills to impress the Disney characters. In the video, it shows him talking like Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. He also has a fun moment with Pluto impersonating Mickey to him. Finally ending the video with a long laugh and hugs with Goofy.

The characters looked the most surprised and impressed by Brian as I am sure this is something they don’t see every day. The family sitting behind him looked a tad annoyed by the attention instead of getting in on the fun (character meals are expensive). You can also check out Brian in other Disney related videos as he has done the same at Disneyland. He is most famous for singing “Let It Go” by impersonating various Disney and Pixar characters throughout the song. That video alone has over 27 million views, and his YouTube page has over 6oo,ooo subscribers.

Disney World is Expensive, Dads are Creative

July 6, 2017 by Robert Morgan Leave a Comment

One Dad decided that the costs of Disney World wouldn’t stop him from giving his child some fun at home this Fourth of July. Youtuber, KentuckyFriedIdiot, used a wall mounted flat screen, a rollercoaster point of view video, a storage container and then added some dad strength to give his child a fun experience.

He has started a GoFundMe page and has already raised over $1,000. The description says,

“Our daughter would like to go to Disneyworld. Now if you’ve been to Disneyworld you know it costs $5.00 for a 16 oz bottle of water, let alone the ticket price. If you enjoyed our video, please think about making the dream come true!”

Seems to be a recent trend in people starting GoFundMe pages for trips to Disney World.

Disney Changes Redhead Role in Pirates Ride

June 30, 2017 by Robert Morgan Leave a Comment

Pirates of the Caribbean is getting another change to the ride, and some might see it as a big one. Disney will be changing the role of the Redhead, the most famous animatronic of the ride. Rumors are she is joining the Pirates.

The Redhead is staying in a revamp of the scene, which will debut at Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom next year. But in

stead of waiting to be sold off, this time, she will be doing the “buying,” joining the pirates to relieve the people of the Mercado of their possessions. (ThemeParkInsider)

We will likely hear the last of the chant “We wants the Redhead” after Disney completes these changes next year. Disney has been profiting more from the scene by recently selling shirts and other apparel. The change is understandable, and it will be fun to see the rides “Redhead” get to be the main villain (potential Disney movie, Pirates of the Caribbean 6). Maybe now she gets a proper name?

The ride has gone through lots of modifications through the years, and some are even brought back to the ride. Adding Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow has been the largest change in recent years and probably the most dramatic. I love the ride but have always felt that Depp’s character doesn’t fit with the other animatronics of the ride. Those changes made sense to attract younger audiences to a ride that was getting a tad dated. Hopefully, they will refurbish/change other animatronics to guarantee the future of the ride for many decades to come.

Siemens and Disney Ending Partnership

June 29, 2017 by Robert Morgan Leave a Comment

Rumors are swirling that Siemens and Disney are ending their partnership which will pull Siemens sponsorship from Spaceship Earth and Illuminations. There are no immediate answers for what will happen to these two attractions at Epcot, but we knew that Illuminations would be phased out with a new nighttime experience soon(er).

Spaceship Earth, on the other hand, could be due for some re-Imagineering. The ride was overhauled in 2007 with Siemens sponsorship but is ready for an update with how fast the current trends in technology are happening. The ride still has some great parts, like the smell of Rome burning or the “thank the Phoenicians” quote. A refurbishment with some dated parts, especially the ending of the ride and Project Tomorrow area would suffice. Unfortunately, this means you only have a limited time to create “Your Future” digital postcards. Gonna miss those choppy headshots!

The Siemens-Disney partnership has lasted 12-years, and no definitive date has been released for when it will end. Epcot is ready for a big transformation with an expected Ratatouille ride coming to France and a possible Guardians of the Galaxy ride too.

Throwback Thursday: Pleasure Island Drinks Make a Comeback

June 29, 2017 by Robert Morgan Leave a Comment

Disney is always looking on how they can please their hardcore fans that love nostalgia; I am one of those fans. The latest Disney throwback is bringing back Pleasure Island drinks to Dockside Margaritas at Disney Springs only on Thursdays through September 28. They will be offering four flavors each Thursday with a wide variety of drinks they will be offering throughout the summer months.

In addition to the Kungaloosh, you’ll also be able to reminisce over the Bell Bottom, Techn-O, and Thriller from 8-Trax, Hoopla from Mannequins, Armadillo Punch from Neon Armadillo, Shark Bite from Rock ‘n Roll Beach Club, Punch Line from Comedy Warehouse, and Pleasure Punch and Funmeister (which were available throughout Pleasure Island). Some of the drinks will rotate on a weekly basis, but the Kungaloosh will be available every week. (WDWNewsToday)

The drinks will cost $9 for alcoholic and $5 for non-alcoholic. The four drinks offered today, June 29, are the Kungaloosh, Bell Bottom, Pleasure Punch, and Emil’s Strawberry Colada which is non-alcoholic. Hope you can enjoy one!
